Friday Favourites #4

October 25, 2024

I am back with my Friday Favourites, where I round up a list of the shows, products, books, activities and food I’ve been loving recently. I’ll pop any helpful links in here as well where I can – they’re not paid links or ads, so I don’t earn any commission or income for sharing them. But if that ever changes I’ll always let you know out of full transparency on my page.

Shows I’m Watching:

Firstly, just an update on shows I previously said I was starting. Jamie and I tried to get into Mormon Housewives and I had to turn it off after 5 minutes. I could NOT stand it. Their voices, their overdramatization of everything, their staged conversations. It was giving the Kardashians, but if they were living in Utah. Which if that’s your thing, then go for it. There must be a reason why the show is so popular, but it’s just not for me.

In saying that, please don’t think that I am above trash tv, because I’m not. I just don’t like reality tv shows. My kind of trash tv is more in the realm of teen/college dramas like Tell Me Lies which I posted about in my last FF. Jamie was away for work last week and I binged all of season 2 in just 3 nights. There’s currently no season 3, I don’t even know if it’s even being filmed yet, and I’m so sad about this. I never expected to get so sucked in, but I did. Even though I find the female main character incredibly annoying, and the male main character absolutely psychotic, I enjoyed the stories from the other characters and all the plot twists. Highly recommend if you feel like watching a binge-worthy college drama!

I don’t actually know what to watch now that I’m done with it – if you have any recommendations that fit my trash tv kind of vibe, please let me know!

Products I’m Using:

We have had almost consistent 35-36 degree days this week and walking to and from work has been an absolute slog in the heat. I’ve turned up my sun protection, wearing longer sleeve linen shirts to protect my arms while still being breathable, and using a 50+ sunscreen on my body. I picked up this Dermaveen one a couple of weeks ago and I’ve really loved using it. It feels really nice going on, absorbs well and actually feels like it’s moisterising my skin at the same time. Also my silly sensitive skin has been completely fine with it and I’ve had zero reactions. Highly recommend!

Activities I’m Enjoying:

My love for my little garden is still going strong! The coriander has been the only thing to die so far, but everything else is going ok. The parsley is looking a bit sparse at the moment, but it’s only because I’ve been using it a fair bit. My potted jalapeño and capsicum have started to fruit which is SO exciting for me! And I ended up buying some new seeds a couple of weeks ago and planting those, and everything except the strawberries have started to sprout.

Lastly, I finally bit the bullet and got a raised garden bed! I ordered it online this week and I should be expecting it between 1-3 weeks from now (the joys of rural living!). Hopefully my little seedlings will be ok until it gets here and I can repot them!

Books I’m Reading:

…. Currently, nothing. I haven’t actually started Kingdom of Ash yet. I don’t know what’s stopping me. Is it that I feel like I’m not mentally ready yet to dive into what is going to be a big, big story? Is it because I know it’s the final book in the series and then that’s it? I don’t know what it is, but it’s currently still sitting on my bedside table begging to be read. Maybe this weekend will be the weekend?

Foods I’m Eating:

A lot of pasta! Jamie has been away again this week for work and all I’ve been wanting is comfort food in the form of pasta! Monday night I cooked some Rana roasted pumpkin ravioli, mushrooms, greens and baby roma tomatoes in a bit of cream and had that for dinner and lunch the next day. Then on Tuesday night I made an absolutely incredible crab linguine using some packaged blue swimmer crab meat that I picked up from Woolworths. It was my first time trying the crab and I was so pleasantly surprised by the taste and texture. It was also the nicest meal I’ve ever cooked for myself, so I will definitely be remaking it very soon and sharing the recipe here!

Things I’m Planning:

It’s my birthday next month and we want to go away for a couple of nights somewhere just the 3 of us to celebrate. Jamie has been away a lot lately for work and we thought it might be nice to pack our bags together this time, and head somewhere. I’m thinking somewhere on the coast, possibly Halliday Bay or Cape Hillsborough! I’m dreaming of eating fresh fish and chips, and seeing the ocean again!

What are you up to this weekend? What shows, food, products have you been enjoying? Let me know!
